About Us

Hamburg Space Team gives students a place to learn by building ambitious aerospace systems.

Systems thinking

Engineering

We treat projects as connected systems: requirements, interfaces, risks, verification, and operations all matter.

Hands-on practice

Learning

Members learn through prototypes, test campaigns, reviews, documentation, and iteration.

Shared responsibility

Community

Teams pass knowledge forward so projects can survive beyond a single semester or generation.

A student team with shared ownership

Space Team Organization

Hamburg Space Team e. V. is a non-profit association registered in Hamburg. While mission teams take care of engineering work, testing, operations, documentation, and project coordination, the association board keeps the organization running, supports mission leads, and coordinates partners.

Built through handover and continuity

History

The team grows by passing knowledge from one generation of students to the next.

Hamburg Space Team began as a two student initiatives for practical aerospace work at the Hamburg University of Technology: the rocketry group HALO was started in 2023, and the satellite group THHOR emerged from the newly created CubeSatLab in 2024. In the fall of 2025, Hamburg Space Team e. V. was founded to bring our shared values together. Since then, members have turned ideas into mission concepts, prototypes, test campaigns, documentation, and increasingly ambitious systems. Each project leaves behind experience that helps the next team move faster.

Location

Based at TUHH

Our home is at the Smart Sensors Group of the Hamburg University of Technology.

The Smart Sensors Group provides an academic environment close to space technology, electronics, sensing, and embedded systems. Being located at TUHH keeps the team connected to students, labs, researchers, and partners in Hamburg.

Work with us

Students, partners, and supporters are welcome

The team grows when people contribute their skills, tools, experience, funding, or simply time and patience.
